BML possesses considerable expertise in the manufacture of sponge iron.We are the leading manufacturer of Direct-reduced iron (DRI), also called sponge iron, which is produced from direct reduction of iron ore (in the form of lumps, pellets or fines) by a reducing gas produced from natural gas or coal.
About Us
Brahmaputra Metallics Limited (BML), was initially incorporated as Brahmaputra Breweries and Distilleries Private Limited on 29th October 1999. Later the company undertook the task of promotion and implementation of a steel plant and consequently the name of the company and the objects were changed to Brahmaputra Metallics (P) Limited on 4th December 2006. The company was converted into a public limited company and rechristened as Brahmaputra Metallics Limited on 4th July 2007.
The company was initially promoted by the Brahmaputra Group of Sri Santosh Kumar Jaiswal, but once the project in Jharkhand was undertaken, the Lohia Group also entered the company and their group directors namely Sri Kailash Chandra Lohia, Sri Bajrang Lohia and Sri Rahul Lohia were appointed to the board of the company on 22nd of October 2007.
The project took off in form of procurement of Land and Licenses and other pre-project activities and over the last three years the company has installed an integrated steel unit. The company has installed 25MW CPP, 2,10,000 MTPA SMS and 1,05,000 MTPA DRI units in this project since then.
The company now is a joint promotion of the Guwahati based Lohia Group and Jaiswal Group.
The Groups have varied manufacturing and business facilities in the States of Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura, West Bengal, all in North Eastern and Eastern India and are into manufacture of Ferro Alloys, Cement, MS Billet, Wire Rods, TMT Bar, Channels, Sections, MS Pipes, Sponge Iron and others.
